Mrs Edda Lindner
Vice-Chair GB, Early Years
Having moved to Denham in February 2016, Edda was invited to become the Early Years governor in the autumn of 2016. Edda says 'I am very grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the life of the school and want to play my part in helping every pupil to have the best possible start to their school career'.
Her background is in education having spent more than 20 years of experience working with children and families in different educational settings and churches.
Originally from Germany, herself and husband Christoph moved to the UK in 2000. 'Little did we know what adventures would await us here. Having experienced the many advantages of vibrant, smaller communities myself, I am passionate for every child in our school to experience a nurturing, loving and generous environment that will inspire them to shine with the gifts and talents they continue to develop'.
Mrs Emily Harrison
Emily joined the teaching team at Denham Village School at the start of 2021. In previous years she has been an Early Years and Key Stage One teacher at another local Primary School but her experience spans across all of the primary key stages. She has a real passion for promoting a love of learning in a safe environment.
'I am delighted to have joined the team at Denham Village School. I was initially drawn to the school after receiving a warm and friendly tour by Ms Nawaz, showcasing all of the amazing children and staff and their exceptional attitudes towards teaching and learning.
I have been teaching in a large outstanding Buckinghamshire school for 6 years where I developed my passion for the Early Years Foundation Stage. I truly love being able to create an irresistible learning environment for young minds to develop and grow. When not in the classroom I enjoy spending time with my husband and two young children and we can often be found outside exploring and having fun.'
Mr Mac Paton
Mac has been a member of the Governing Body at this school for the last ten years, during which time it has experienced many successes but also some demanding challenges. Throughout its journey through this period, the school has retained its principal focus of enabling young children in the local and surrounding communities to learn and grow in a safe and caring environment. Mac say's 'I am now delighted that the school has embarked on its next step of becoming an all-through Primary School which will allow the children to benefit from this very special provision for the whole of their Primary School education'.
Mac's own professional background is also in Education but at the other end of the spectrum. Having started his teaching career teaching French at Greenford County Grammar School, He then spent a year in Brussels teaching English to foreign businessmen and a few businesswomen! Then for the next thirty-four years, he taught English to students at Stanmore Sixth Form College and was Director of the College for the last eight years of that time. 'Spending a whole career in Teaching is an enormous privilege and maintaining contact with my former students, as they have grown into adults and started their own families, has been a source of great enjoyment to me'.
Having now retired and also having relinquished his leadership roles on the Governing Board, He is able to spend some time each week listening to the children read as one of the volunteer readers. 'This is one of the best times of my week as the children are always so enthusiastic, so friendly and so polite. As a long-term resident of Denham Village, I am convinced of the importance of the Village School to the health and the prosperity of the local community and I should welcome an even greater involvement of the children in all aspects of village life'.
Mr Jatinder Dhonsi
Jat has lived in Denham since January 2017 with his wife and 2 children, with the most recent addition being born on the palindrome day of 02/02/2020! He works in technology with a particular interest in network communications, currently working for a Wireless ISP who provide Internet services to the Military and Holiday Parks.
Asides from honing his techie skills, Jat also likes to keep fit and was very delighted to have taken part in and completed the London Marathon in 2019. He is also very honoured to be carrying out the role of school governor at Denham Village School and looks forward to working with the team at DVS to take the school from strength to strength.
Ms R Ford
Safeguarding and Science Governor
Rebecca has two children, one is a current pupil at Denham Village School and the other will be following suit in 2021!
Rebecca lives locally with her husband and two children, and works in the public sector in Safeguarding adults and children.
Rebecca studied (culminating in theatre and music as a main focus including some on stage shows before working for the public sector) at an independent girls school, however she prefers the small and friendly school feel that Denham Village gives to her and her family!
When looking at schools for their eldest Jessica, Denham Village was the top of their list from the moment they came to look around. Rebecca says of the school, “it was an instant draw for us, being outdoors and enjoying learning in nature is very important to us, so the forest school and the beautiful grounds the school has was the icing on the cake!”
Rebecca has enjoyed being involved with the school since Jessica started, and has recently been elected as Vice Chair of the newly formed Denham Village PTA (parent teacher association) where she hopes to help bring fun and new fundraising events to the school.
Mrs Julie Jarrott

Afsheen is delighted to be the Headteacher at Denham Village School. Prior to her headship here, Afsheen held a number of positions including Independent Consultant, Deputy Headteacher, Specialist Leader of Education and a variety of roles within the School Improvement division. She has been in the education profession since 2007 and is genuinely passionate about making a positive contribution to the lives of children.
'I have been delighted by the warm, family atmosphere, close community links and polite, well-motivated pupils at Denham Village School. We are blessed with an excellent team of teachers and teaching assistants, together with a very proactive governing body which makes education at the school really enjoyable. It is a pleasure and a privilege to be the Headteacher of such a fabulous school. It is a joy to drive through the stunning countryside to Denham Village School each day; it really is an idyllic setting. As a small, village primary school, Denham Village School provides the diversity and challenge I sought when moving to headship and I feel sure that we will continue to be a thriving part of the local community for many years to come. When I’m not at school, I love going to the gym, cycling and hiking. I’m also an avid reader and enjoy dabbling in photography'.
